Marcus Bell is one of our long time friends, like when PJ Retro was the new big thing.
When he's not busy running (the highly acclaimed and successful) Studio Impressions he's speaking at seminars and conferences.
Marcus is running seminars in late February around Australia and New Zealand.
A visit to one of the seminars will be well worth it, as Marcus will be "Sharing his knowledge and secrets from the last ten years, including The art of capturing emotive award winning Images, fine art printing, photoshop techniques and workflow. Creating images and products that sell themselves, plus much more..."

Lights, Camera, ACTIONS!
My first post... and what better to talk about than my favourite Remix feature, Photoshop Actions! Unknown to Retro, and a revelation in Remix, it brings joy to my face and makes me say, "Wow - that's cool!".
Tried it yet? If not then here's what to do.
1. Open an album and select an aperture (image) on the layout that you wish to apply the action to.
2. Click the 'Photoshop Actions' button in the Image Palette of the Tools window.

PJ Remix talks to Photoshop and shows all your actions, just as they're set up in Photoshop.
3. Select the action you want, and then tell Remix whether you want to edit the original image or a duplicate. In a flash the action will be applied and Remix will display it on your layout.
So, no more jumping to Photoshop to apply Actions* and then having to re-import the image to PJ - just three quick steps inside PJ Remix.
Gosh... I love this feature!
Cheers for now, Akshay
PS *If you want to apply an action to PART of an image you'll need to use Open In Editor instead - nearly as fast...

Sorting is so easy
Our Collection Builder (CB) reduces image sorting to a few quick and easy steps.
1. "Source Images" - First, make sure the images you can see in the Event Window are the ones you want to build the Collection FROM!
2. Choose a Collection to build. EITHER click the More button and select Collection Builder (you'll be asked to choose an existing Collection) OR add a new Collection (eg Bride and Groom Album).

3. Photojunction changes to full screen mode, and you (or your clients) can start building your collection by clicking Skip, Yes, or No, or by using the one-button shortcuts (S, Y, N). The CB whittles them down until there are none left.

When you're done, you'll find all your "Yeses" in the new Collection. The source images remain unchanged. Easy eh?
Until next time, Danny

Treasure Hunting
“Hurrah for...”
OK, just one more plug :)
Cool, thanks Michael. BTW, you can change your settings so you get an email notification as soon as there's a reply to your post. After you log on to the forum, click on User Control Panel (top left of the home screen), then select Board Preferences, then Edit Posting Defaults. Once you're there, select YES to "Notify me upon replies by default", click Submit and you're done. You'll get an email every time there's a reply to your post. Oh, while you're there you should also go to Edit Global Settings and make sure you've allowed us to send you emails!
Cheers, Ian

No names, but…
PJ Remix is about two things. First, delivering a great user experience is life or death. We’re Ubergeeks. We want – no we need – to be cool. So our mothers and girlfriends will respect us, and so you do too.
Second, we want to help you do business in the real world, without hassles. How boring is that? And how hard a point to get across! Sometimes we think it has all the sales appeal of day-old fish.
So when we came upon this story recently we jumped on it because it's so CLEAR.
Once upon a time a photographer designed some matted albums in InDesign because they didn’t like Photojunction. (PJ Retro, actually - phew!). Then the layouts were converted to PDF, the order was written manually and everything was sent to the vendor.
And my point? This vendor, and this vendor’s lab, can’t handle PDFs. To process the order they would need to redesign the album (in Photojunction!) so they could cut the mats. InDesign doesn’t know albums. PDFs can’t cut mats. Plus, as we said, this lab can’t print PDFs (some can, most can’t). That's the kind of fundamental misalignment that Photojunction won’t allow.
Non-compliance (and "client education") are among the biggest problems facing all vendors. Publishers and printers of ALL sorts constantly receive stuff they can’t send to production because the work doesn’t comply with their specs. Photojunction looks to solve that problem as far as albums are concerned.
We know we’re v1.0, but that's what PJ Remix is about.
Cheers, Ian

Fabulous forums
I am not too sure that everyone really *gets* the PJ forums. A lot of you know they're a good place to ask a question (entirely true - we're getting more and more) but that's just the start.
Despite our 'ubergeek' personae we're real people. We LIKE company. One or two of us even get out in the sun from time to time. Yes, we've thought long and hard about PJ Remix's features, but that doesn't make us right. We like to hear what you think, and how we can improve our work. Much as you like feedback about yours. Well, the forums are a great place for that. Everyone here reads them every morning, digests your posts, discusses your ideas, bandages their occasional wounds (!) and gets down to work.
Also, I've just added an "off topic" forum. If you want to ask fellow PJ users something, or get tech advice on anything from one of Team PJ, just stop by. If we can help, we will. Off Topic
Lastly, the forums are great because if you do have a suggestion or question, you can search and maybe discover other photographers' thoughts. A lot of topics have been covered already.
Anyway my last shameless plug for our forums.
Cheers, Danny
PS, a reminder why we love it when YOU answer forum posts.

Progress locomotive
Hi All
Thanks for the feedback from our last post - we had a good response (and you're more than welcome to keep it coming).
We're releasing 1.02b today, another maintenance release. With software development it takes a while to build up steam, especially after a break, so thanks for sticking with us in the absence of updates. But watch us squish those bugs and feature requests now we're back up to speed. (OK, I'll stop flogging the train/bug/windshield metaphor!)
In other big news, we've converted templates from Retro to Remix and posted them for download here:
http://www.photojunction.com/download/remix/templates.html
Make sure you import them using 1.02b! *wink wink*
Cheers

Spread the word
As we are approaching our big day, our first final version, excitement is in the air. This will also coincide with our trade show
season which has sparked a few interesting ideas...
We've had a lot of clients ask about speaking about PJ Remix at seminars, trade shows and other events. So much so that we've come up with a 'referral program' that will give you or your organisation a commission for every renewal or new subscription you refer.
If you're interested let us know, and we'll send you the appropriate info.
Cheers

We're back

Happy New Year!
In case you haven't noticed we've been on holiday for two weeks ;-)
I've already heard tales this morning ranging from 'LOTR Tours' to 'Camping at the beach' to 'Highland Games' to 'Glued to TV for the India-Australia cricket'. We're a diverse bunch, I love it!
We've rested up, enjoyed the fine weather with our friends and families and now it's time to get cracking. We hope you've managed to get some R&R over the holiday period as well.
You'll hear more from us soon, and we hope to hear from you too.
Cheers
Danny
